My name is Jimmy Mariani and I have been a tattoo artist for 17+ years, and an artist for all my life. I started my tattoo career at a shop with a carnival like atmosphere; Forbidden Art, South Street Philadelphia, a place with by plenty of bars, restaurants, music venues and even other tattoo shops. There were three other shops on the same block and two others with in 10 blocks. Needless to say, it was the place to come if you were looking for a tattoo; and back then it was really the only place. Our shop was located right across the street from the famous Philadelphia Eddy. His son also had a shop; Body Graphics Tattoo (who I would later be employed with) on the same block. I probably did more tattoos in a year than some will do in a career. After a crazy start, I moved to South Florida, tattooing at a bunch of shops. After working with some great artists and a couple years of fun in the sun, it was back to Philly. I have also worked in Amsterdam, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina, before finally settling down back in PA at a shop just outside the city (Studio One Tattoo). There, I was also fortunate; working with some of the best artists in the business. And finally, full circle, back in Florida at Colorfast Studios in Coral Springs. I have always had a passion for art and all things creative. I draw everyday, and I am still inspired by new ideas. I take pride in every tattoo, big or small, striving for perfect line work and the most solid colors. My favorite styles of tattooing are Traditional and Black and Grey, but come to the table with a lot of experience, capable of any tattoo, any size, any style.
I started this blog to showcase my tattoo work, but also enjoy a lot of other mediums. If you require unique and original art work for yourself or your business I am always available to create something awesome. I especially love doing custom lettering; hand painted signs, windows, motorcycles, trucks, restaurants etc. Also designing logos, murals, antique restoration, photography, engraving and pinstriping to name a few.
